Licences & Subscriptions
Cisco Meraki
Licences: All Cisco Meraki devices (excluding antennas and accessories) require a valid Cisco Meraki licence to function.
Cisco Meraki licences provide powerful and intuitive centralised management via the cloud, eliminating the cost and complexity of traditional on-site wireless controllers. Cisco Meraki’s cloud seamlessly manages campus-wide WiFi deployments and distributed multi-site networks with zero-touch access point provisioning, network-wide visibility and control, cloud-based RF optimisation, seamless firmware updates, and more.
Cisco Meraki licences are available in 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10-year durations, as well as 1-day duration licences for true-ups. Xcomm offers a range of Cisco Meraki hardware pre-bundled with valid licences of all durations, or just the licences on their own for the renewal/subscription of existing Cisco Meraki hardware.
The compatibility of Cisco Meraki licences varies by device type.
Xcomm will advise on the licence(s) required to support the services being supplied under the Xcomm Network as a Service (NaaS) solution.
MS Switches and MR Access Points Licences
All MS Switches and MR Access Points require either Enterprise Edition or Advanced licences, which deliver:
- Cloud-based centralised management, eliminating the need for an on-site hardware controller.
- Network-wide visibility and control.
- Massive scalability (eg up to 10,000 access points).
- Out-of-band control plane: network traffic does not pass through the cloud, meaning the network stays up if the connection to the cloud is lost.
- Powerful multi-site management tools.
- Automatic RF optimisation, network monitoring and alerts.
- Seamless firmware and security updates.
- Intuitive browser-based dashboard, eliminating the need for training and dedicated staff.
MS switches are only compatible with model-specific Enterprise Edition licences. Xcomm will advise on the licence(s) required to support the services being supplied under the Xcomm Network as a Service (NaaS) solution.
All MR access point models are compatible with the Enterprise Edition access point licences.
Cisco Licences
The Cisco licences you need depend on the software run on your hardware.
- Secure Firewall Management Center hardware does not require licensing.
- Management Center Virtual appliances require licensing.
- Secure Firewall Threat Defense devices use Smart licensing.
- All other devices use Classic licencsing
If you will run other software, such as Secure Firewall ASA:
- The same hardware may have different licensing requirements depending on the software it runs.
Xcomm will advise on the licence(s) required to support the services being supplied under the Xcomm Network as a Service (NaaS) solution.
MX Firewalls Licences
There are three types of licences available for MX Firewalls – Enterprise Edition, Advanced Security, and Secure SD-WAN Plus. The chart below is currently being updated and will soon show you updated features of the three security licence levels.
Please be aware that some MX firewall models come in both wired and wireless (WiFi) versions, each with their own compatible licences, so Xcomm will make sure that your licence is for the correct model.
