Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme
If you are upgrading your business connection to a 100Mb or faster Internet Leased Line, then you may be eligible to claim a voucher from the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, worth up to £2,500.
The Government launched the £67m Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme in 2018 as part of its commitment to achieving full-fibre connectivity in Britain.
Full fibre broadband connections offer the fastest and most reliable speeds available and as demand for greater and greater digital connectivity accelerates, gigabit-capable connections will be able to support that demand. With a gigabit-capable connection businesses will be able to maximise the benefits of bandwidth-hungry online business applications and cloud-based services such as VoIP and hosted telephony; cloud data storage, cyber security systems and back-ups; streamed services such as video and music; voice and video conferencing; and flexible working for employees with access to company systems.
Helping SMEs get full fibre connections
Gigabit vouchers can be used by small businesses and the local communities surrounding them to contribute to the installation cost of a gigabit-capable connection. Businesses can claim up to £2,500 against the cost of connection either individually or as part of a group project. Residents can benefit from the scheme with a voucher worth £500 (plus VAT) as part of a group project.
Since May 2019, premises in the harder-to-reach places in the UK may be eligible for additional funding.
To be eligible for the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme your business must:
- Employ fewer than 249 employees
- Have an annual turnover of less than €50 million
- Have received under £200k of grants in the last three years
